The face behind the hands…

One evening my husband asked “what did you do today?” I told him that I had signed up to train as a Shiatsu Therapist. Stunned, he looked at me and said “is this some kind of mid-life crisis?” Perhaps… I had turned 54

Jacqui Penman

With a background in workplace wellbeing, public healthcare and delivering holistic cancer support I found myself following a growing curiosity in holistic health and self-care practices, and began retraining as a Shiatsu therapist with The Shiatsu School Edinburgh. Qualifying in 2023 with a Level 4 Diploma after three years of study (plus one extra for lockdown)

I now have a bit of thing about Shiatsu and believe this complementary therapy can play an effective and significant role in building physical, mental and emotional resilience for everyone

Jacqui practices from her Garden Studio on the Southwest of Edinburgh and at Edinburgh Napiers Clinic in Bristo Place

One of her greatest pleasures is to be part of the small team of Complementary Therapists who volunteer at CHAS’s Rachel House in Kinross, offering free treatments to family members, children, staff and volunteers

She is also a member of Shiatsu Hub, a collaboration of Edinburgh based practitioners who offer accessible Shiatsu Awareness Sessions at workplaces, events and workshops
